Let me start by sharing that I am new to painting. As a new artist trying to find a direction was difficult. Kathleen’s mentorship program drastically helped me. So worth it!
— Christina A.

Why One-on-One Support Matters

Being an artist is often a solitary path. While that solitude can be rich and necessary, it can also leave us without perspective—without someone to offer suggestions, ask deeper questions, or help us see what’s already there. One-on-one sessions offer a rare opportunity to have someone speak into your work with care and clarity—to move it forward with insight, not overwhelm.

After reaching a long-held goal recently, I found myself surprisingly adrift. What grounded me again was the yogic teaching of tapas—the quiet power of disciplined effort. Tapas reminds me that transformation doesn’t come through emotion, but through steady commitment to the practice itself. That’s the spirit I bring to mentoring.

Because my own studio practice is central to my life and work, I only take on a small number of artists at a time. This allows me to show up fully—for both your creative journey and mine.

Private In-Person Workshops

Kathleen Yorba has been a warm, caring, exciting mentor for me. I felt—and still feel—a strong connection with her. She got to know me first, then tailored her suggestions to help me develop my own style. She was enthusiastic and genuinely excited for me. How sweet is that? I highly recommend her if you want to move your art to a new level.
— Terry G.
I feel like I am having a chat with an old friend when I speak with her - but even better because Kathleen has an abundance of art knowledge and experience to share. She offers suggestions for ways to focus and grow that are suited to my particular needs. I am looking forward to continuing my art exploration with Kathleen.
— Denise T.

Brush in Hand

For artists who work in fits and starts, feeling the rhythm but sensing something just out of reach. You’re aware of where things could improve, but not always sure how to fix them. You’re ready to ask the right questions—and experiment until you find the answers.

These hands-on workshops are full of movement, curiosity, and creative momentum. We’ll work together to:

  • Strengthen design decisions

  • Work the entire surface of your painting

  • Embrace open-ended exploration

  • Develop the habit of asking meaningful questions as you paint

It’s about learning to see your work with fresh eyes—and stepping into a new level of confidence.

Slow Like a PRO

For artists who want to streamline their practice, set up their studio with intention, and make the most of their space and time. This offering is about efficiency, clarity, and a sense of flow—while honoring your individual path.

A daughter recently gifted her mother a workshop—her mom had painted years ago, and the spark was beginning to return. Through Zoom, studio visits, and hands-on work, we rebuilt her practice piece by piece, transforming a small home space into a creative haven. She left with a finished painting and a sense of momentum.

That’s the kind of shift these sessions are designed to support.
